Birger Hjørland
Title: Knowledge Organization for Resilience in Times of Crisis: Challenges and Opportunities
Birger Hjørland holds an MA in psychology and PhD in library and information science. Since 2020 he is professor emeritus in knowledge organization (KO) at the Department of Communication, University of Copenhagen, (formerly Royal School of Library and Information Science, RSLIS) where he has been a professor from 2001. In 2000-2001 he was professor in KO at the University College in Borås. He was research librarian at the Royal Library in Copenhagen 1978-1990, and 1983-1986 he taught information science at the Department of Mathematical and Applied Linguistics at the University of Copenhagen. From 1986 to 1990, he also served at coordinator of the Riyal Library’s computer-based documentation service. 1990 to 2000 he was head of department for Humanities and Social Sciences information studies at RSLIS, and from 1973 to 1978 was associate professor in reference work and documentation at RSLIS, and contributed to establish the first teaching of information science in Denmark. In 1972 – 1975 he participated in the NORDDOK-17 project about testing bibliographical databases in psychology and educational research.
He is a member of ISKO Scientific Advisory Council, the editor-in-chief of the ISKO Encyclopedia of Knowledge Organization and a member of the editorial boards of Knowledge Organization, Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology and Journal of Documentation. His h-index on 2024-01-10 is 51 in Google Scholar and 36 in Web of Science.
Thiago Henrique Bragato Barros
Title: Exploring the Divergences and Convergences of Knowledge Organization and Knowledge Management: Challenges and Opportunities
Thiago Henrique Bragato Barros is a Permanent Professor at the Graduate Programs in Information Science at UFRGS and UFSC and an Associate Professor at the Department of Information Science at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). He is the Editor in Chief of Em Questao (indexed by the WoS and Scielo), Researcher in research groups at UFSCAR, UFSC and UFRGS, President of the International Society for Knowledge Organization (2022-), Deputy Editor of Knowledge Organization journal, Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Information Science - PPGCIN UFRGS (2020-2024), and Mo. Member of ISKO's Scientific and Technical Advisory Council (STAC). He chaired ISKO Brazil and worked mainly on the following topics: Knowledge Organization and Archival Science.
